Finding Human

Finding Human

A Poem by Malen

Wooden beams holding history
Aged far beyond me
What a wonder to wander in nature

A musk that stirs ones soul
Paired with the scent of mold
That this cold air breathes
Dances to my nose

Walking with bare feet
Toes curl holding tight
A place we rarely come
From where life is sprung

A world that once was free
Now a servant to humanity
What once was a home
Now many roam alone
Missing the connection
That once felt like a heaven

Dirt under nail
A face clear and raw
The sun begins the curtain call

I really liked how you showed the beauty and value of nature in your first stanza. The idea you present in the lines "Wooden beams holding history/Aged far beyond me" really conveys a sense of reverence and wonder for nature. The details about the scents of the forest in your second stanza continues that idea.

The contrast between the natural world you love, and the world that others have created, is stunning. Lines such as "A world that once was free/Now a servant to humanity" really convey how some individuals have destroyed the beauty of nature.

Well done with this environmentally conscious poem.

I enjoy that I can smell the air and feel the damp ground as you describe it. The disconnection of humanity from everything else on the planet it truly sad, but it does give a good platform for writing =)

It certainly does
I like the poem and agree with the description.
"A world that once was free
Now a servant to humanity
What once was a home
Now many roam alone
Missing the connection
That once felt like a heaven"
We forgot the days of concern, kindness and love. Need days when neighbors help each other and we talks to each other. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.
