Mazes

A Poem by Malcolm Reynolds
"

It's been one hell of a ride.

"
When I am heartened I feel happy,
I feel happy, I'm full, I'm no longer hungry,
I feel courage and smile, living life as me.
Is it love or loyalty? My faith restored in humanity.
My heart beats, my skin glows,
haircuts, new clothes and gifts for all.
Remember how we got here, don't let it slip,
but it's only a feeling, soon I'll be falling.
When I'm weak I work more, work more, work more,
to feel needed, wanted till I'm drained like a battery core,
taught never to give up but it ain't helping,
fighting a losing battle, I'm slipping, I'm falling.
I'm weak so push like nothing to lose,
work and help achieve, show you're of use,
I keep myself busy, they can see I'm non-stop,
heart beats fast, like an engine too hot,
you can't see the smoke but soon it'll all be over,
it's only a feeling, cycles of a rollercoaster.
