Sanitary Napkin

Sanitary Napkin

A Poem by Malay Roychoudhury
"

In a poor country like India Sanitary Napkins are not available for all. Girls do with whatever is available to them to soak the blood.

"
Sanitary Napkin
Malay Roychoudhury | Translation: Uttaran Das Gupta

Love is like that girl, who
had to drop out of school;
Three-and-a-half days each month,
Must wear dry grass tied in cloth;
In monsoon, the grass is green,
So, ash wrapped in cloth,
to soak up the blood,
seated quietly, alone, book-less.
