These Words, They Break Me

These Words, They Break Me

A Poem by MakeshiftRose

These words,

So hurtful in their entirety,

I do nothing to you,

Yet you feel you must hurt me

With "facts" and "opinions"

Of the people.

I shouldn't care what "the people" think.

I don't.

But I do.

Your words tear me apart inside,

As if they were a knife mutilating my skin,

The armor I had built around myself

To protect from all the hurtful words.

Voices invade my mind.

They rip apart my spirit.

Outside, I am fine.

But inside, I am nothing.

Broken.

I sometimes care too much what others think of me too. We shouldn't, you're right but it's not that easy, is it?
anyways, I really liked your poem :)

" I shouldn't care about what the people think . I don't. But I do"
We shouldn't care but there is some part inside that makes us wonder. Is what those people saying actually true? That part in us is called doubt and we all have that inside us which makes us vulnerable to the remarks of others. That and insecurity.
Good write and keeping writing (:
