The Mask

The Mask

A Poem by anonymous4864

I cry, but the tears never show
I feel angry, but no one ever knows
it's the beauty of the mask i wear
never does a thought escape the facade
I hide behind

like armor, I am invincible with it

I am carefree, witty,

even normal

but take away my mask

and see a withered old thing

my sobbing soul, seeking shelter

armor to protect, a mask to hide

a shield from the world

I'm not truly

smart, funny, or content

but I can fake it

and you'd never even guess the truth

of what hides behind

the mask I wear

Well it says in the last verse
"I'm not truly
smart, funny, or content
but I can fake it "
Maybe not, but you are talented. I thought this poem had such emotion and depth of feeling.
Wonderful.
