Genesee the Capital of My Heart

Genesee the Capital of My Heart

A Poem by Ascending
"

The birthplace of love, hate, passion and revenge.

"

Silence

As you look for a place

Called Genesee

This walk won't be instantly

You see

This place is immense

Vast - Infinite

What is the place?

You ask

This is a very special place

That of which won't hide disgrace

That emits sensuality

The birthplace

Of Love

          Hate

                Passion

                         Revenge

How to get to Genesee?

You ask

Well, this surely isn't an easy task

This place

You see

Is where the sun don't shine

First

You'll arrive at a place called Storms

Trend carefully

It has a tendency

To pick up particular past painful memories

Once you've past this Storm

You'll go along the White Mountain

Tread Carefully

These mountains are rugged, spiked, and irregular

After you've past this Mountain

You'll reach Land

This place is very wet and mushy

As you walk the Land you'll see some Roads lending to Genesee

Doesn't matter which Road you take

Once you reach the end of the Road

You'll come to a Door

Once through

Finally

You reach the outskirts of Genesee

Just follow the beat of the walls

To the Heart of this place

I loved the whole second-person perspective, gave it nice detailed, and conversational tone. The rhyme scheme, METAPHORS. How you managed to show a way to reach an ultimate destination, crossing obstacles, and eventually reaching dreamland. Though obstacles in life are inevitable, we manage to pull ourselves through, the final nirvana being an incentive. Great flow, totally loved reading.

An interesting take on what you see in the picture.

The route to "Genesee" is a misleading one which perhaps might often be misinterpreted in reading this. But the subtle placement of "where the sun don't shine", coupled with its relationship with the image, certainly should tell us that this is not a nice place. Metaphorically it is a journey through life like many others, yet it surely must end in death - "the heart of this place"...

A nicely fluid piece, and an intriguing concept.

An enjoyable journey...as you lead the reader down the path to Genesse you narrate the scene well. Although arriving at the heart completes the journey's end, I'm reminded that it is the journey not the destination...Nicely done...

Genesee sound like a interesting place. I like the way you described how to get there and how you will know when you are there. Thank you for the entertaining poem to read. A excellent poem.

Everyone seems to be looking for Genesee, just not hard enough and in the wrong places.. Very good poem. I like how you made it fit and flow without rhyming.
