Dreams

A Poem by Ascending
"

I couldn't reach this star, this dream.

"
As I sit on a moss-covered log
Sky changed from blue to a gown of orange and purple
I ponder about that unreachable star
I remember when we first met
It was when Sky was clad in black, dashing
To lure it I had to sing
 She sung to me
But I couldn't sing back
My voice was so young
As she forever changed
From dress to gown
I tried to lure this star
 She sung to me
And I sang back
Harmonized it was not
Thus I failed to lure it
As Sky's apparel warmed
For she was cold
I still tried to lure it
She sung to me
And I sung back
But I could not be heard
Thus I failed to lure it
I tried and tried to lure this star
But burdens sieved my way
I looked left to right
After a twenty fortnight
I saw a plenty of stars
I caught trying to reach her
But to no avail
I couldn't reach this star
This dream

Yes dreams are sometimes too far for us to reach. Stinks when we realize that little gem. But hopefully there is a way for you to reach yours... :)

It was enjoyable reading in harmony while enjoying your stars. One thing about stars is there are many in the skies of the universe. Dreams shine on as effervescent life...

excellent maybe it is a good thing because if we had everything we wanted, would we be truly happy? Probably not.

this is an excellent poem for multiple reasons. there is yearning within the speaker, and within the language of the poet portraying that which is hard to comprehend. there is an immediaate trend within the speaker to long for that which is impossible to fathom. the human condition of granting what is captured into yearning for what still lay fractured. i appreciate how the lack of rhyme within the piece matches the lack of structure the speaker contemplates within the space embodied by the sense of lost time. i would go with "too" in line nine, and the "But burdens sieved my way" line is my favorite in a poem full of genius imagery. excellent.

I really like how you used stars and dreams to reach for things in life! It's true that we may never get all of our wishes in life, but we can be close enough if we try at least. Try is all we can do. =) I loved this piece. You have strength and power to inspire people through your work. Wonderful job! Thank you.

I love the symbols, how you connected life and dreams with stars. Yes, I agree with you, sometimes some dreams are just out of reach, but that shouldn't stop you from trying. Of course, maybe we won't get all our wishes come true, but at least you can come close enough. Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading this, you managed to put the message across rather creatively with the different 'apparels' of the stars.

Stars and dreams can make reach for great things and wish we have done more. I tell the young people. Take chances and maybe can touch a few dreams. I like the places you took me with your poem.
"I still tried to lure it
It sung to me
And I sung back
But I could not be heard
Thus I failed to lure it "
Thank you for the amazing poetry.
