A white dune, fostering a sea of friendships and friends lost...

"Freeze!"

"Ah! AH! Cold! Why couldn't you just use a binding spell, Moku!?"

"You deserved it. What did I tell you about stealing from people, Stiff? Stop thinking about meat kabobs for once and do some honest work! In a world we all share, there is no reason to steal from one another... And if you absolutely have to, why not just steal from the world's enemies?"

"Heh! So then it is okay for me to steal!"

"What? Didn't you hear what I just said...?"

"Well, because the world is my enemy!"

"Sigh. You have to behave more, Stiff. You won't make any friends acting this way... And friends are something one just can't do without."

"What are you, my dad? Spare me the lectures, Moku. Besides, whether you like it or not, me and you are friends now... And being friends with me, means paying for my stolen food! Heh."

"Sigh... Yes, unfortunately. Serves me right for making friends with a thief. (Chuckle) Now, come along. We don't want to keep Draven waiting, do we?"

The lingering fog in a forest of doubt...

"Moku, you're late... And who's this supposed to be?"

"Ah! Draven, allow me to introdu-"

"The name's Stiff. It's... a pleasure, I guess. Moku's been telling me about you."

"Hmph. Moku bringing you here has delayed my training... and I refuse to wait any longer."

"About that... Stiff will be joining us from now on. Oh, don't look at me like that, he's got a lot of potential! Reminds me of you a bit, Draven. He only looks hopeless."

"Hopeless? 'The hell you talking about, Moku?"

"Ugh... Whatever. Just stay out of my way. If you hold me back, I'll get rid of you myself."

"Heh! Don't bet on it, pal. Besides, that goes both ways!"

The fog diminishes, whisking away its doubt...

"How do you do that?"

"Huh? Do what?"

"I don't know... You're always so uppity and excited."

"Yeah, so? This is great."

"I don't get it. It's as if you don't care about what happened in the past. How can you get over all that so easily?"

"Heh! Well, the way I see it, there really is no point in sulking around all the time. You've just got to try and enjoy life as it comes at you; Even the little things. There is way too much to do in life to just sit there and mope around! Why bother being alive if you're not going to live? Have some enthusiasm! You're alive, d****t! Right?"

"Huh... Okay. Well, how's this?"

"Eh!? Is that supposed to be the way I grin? (Laugh) I don't think your face is used to smiling, Draven!"

"Heh. The little things, huh?"

An old city, abandoned by time...

"So you're the one Draven calls Stiff?"

"Eh? Yeah, that's me."

"Stiff, this is Vincent. He's the leader of the Brigade, and also my mentor."

"Oh! Hello there."

"I wanted to meet this clumsy thief that Moku made Draven train with. To make a dent in Draven's anti-social lifestyle, now that's something of legends. I'm sure I'll be seeing a lot more of you around, Stiff."

"Heh, well... Wait, did Draven call me clumsy!? What's that all about? I was the one who saved you towards the end of our training there!"

"Shhhhut it...!"

"How you two became friends is beyond me. Well, I'll be getting back to work then. You take care of yourself, Stiff."

"Uh... Wait!"

"Hm?"

"I... I want to join the Brigade!"

"Hmph. Is that so? This is no club, kid. What makes you think you have what it takes?"

"...Just give me a chance and I'll show you!

"If Draven could do it, then I can do it too..."
