To A Thief - Chapter 27: Remembering

Author's note: Ugh -_- I had quite a long chapter written up here and just as I was about to finish, I hit some stupid combination of keys like ctrl+i dunno and the page ended up refreshing and suddenly I was staring at a blank fricken' page. I REALLY don't feel like typing all of that over, so I'll just summarize what was supposed to happen in this chapter.

Chapter 27 summary

- Stiff arrives at the magicite

-Kahlee's sabre tooth finds Stiff

-Stiff is chased around the mine by the tiger until he runs into Kahlee

-Kahlee appears to know who Stiff is just by his scent, nicknaming him "Stifford" and stating that they go way back

-Stiff finds out that Kahlee had a lot to do with the disappearance of the little blonde girl from his strange reverie in the Emptiness

-Stiff unexpectedly becomes enraged with Kahlee and begins attacking her under the control of his darkness, which is just what she wanted to happen

-During their fight, Kahlee reveals to him that she is the main one responsible for Okina's strange traits and more importantly, the magicite embedded onto her back which has chaotic effects on Okina

-Stiff becomes more enraged, not knowing why exactly he feels so much anger towards this woman, but he feels it has a connection with Okina and the little blonde girl from years ago

-Stiff kills Kahlee's sabretooth during the battle, losing all control and going berserk

-During the entire fight, the linkpearl Stiff was carrying became unreadable most likely due to his darkness, so the other members were left in the dark on what was going on

-Kahlee is fatally wounded by Stiff and retreats just in time using the power of her dark pendant. 

-The explosives around the magicite finally go off in a series of explosions with Stiff still inside, making the others believe he is dead but when they go inside they find him lying unconscious, completely unharmed. They don't know it's because of the darkness that he's unharmed.

-Stiff is taken back to headquarters in Jeuno

-Kahlee is "disposed" of without mercy by her leader, whom saw it a fitting punishment for her failure in securing the magicite and keeping her big mouth shut

-The next day Stiff remains in bed to lament the events that transpired in Movalpolos. Now he begins to wonder what truly is going on. 

-Vincent has a private chat with Moku and reveals to him that the evil group is actually known as "The Descent." He reveals many casualties had happened during the recon mission and states that the Brigade has seriously underestimated the Descent. The chapter ends with him telling Moku that they know everything... everything about Stiff and also mentions something about Draven.
