If only

If only

A Poem by Mai Aliza

If only

Cancer would pass over us

Because we cannot trust

In doctors who tell us it’s too late

Who give us our death date

Because they say the cancer has spread too far

Leaving our families emotionally scarred

Oh no, not me, not we, nor him or her, or they

Doctors will not tell us today is the day

Because they don’t have fate in their hands

Only God puts death in command

If only, If only

If only

We didn’t fight wars

Because this leaves peace with painful sores

That ache and bleed everyday

This is what keeps peace away

So can’t we all just get along?

Sing and hold hands to the same song?

Because killing and fighting over things we could share

Isn’t at all fair,

To the brave and poor who fight in those wars

Whose kids beg for them not to go anymore

But all they can say is, “I’ll be back next year”

Not knowing that the consequences would be severe

And if you saw the look on that child’s face at the funeral

You’d see that a world without war would be so beautiful

If only, If only…

Well thought out. It touches the heart, witch is always a major plus in my book. If I had to pick at it I would say The flow could be smoother but the flow probably is fine and I'm just being silly. all and all I think it's Great!
