Lights

Lights

A Poem by MoM

A dream is just a dream when true

passion remains locked up behind the steel

bars constructed of social standards and

unrealistic expectations placed before us in

attempt to shut out the lights that burn a little

to bright.

In a world that finds comfort under its blanket of

darkness and their so called equality

shadowing the hopeful souls that threaten

their fragile system built on a false

sense of control, if only someone

would pull off the sheet and show this

world how bright of a light you can be.

But I love the darkness under my blanket.
Okay, on a serious note, this is very true.
The stigmas that can be placed on individuals can be dam haunting and that is why we must break the allusion of normalcy.
