CheersA Poem by Mohammed Mansoor Al-Raisi
With a blank gaze he knows.
The fears, mistakes and woes. Wrong turn taken, now shackled by chains. Fuel to the fire, nothing but charred remains. Forget it all, give in, he won't reach the hall. Fun turned addiction, to mindless indulgence you fall. Spiraling past, a ship with no mast, a sudden blur, No control, swings at the spectre, he hits her. Succumb to weakness, out of focus picture frame. Time's up, your body, the prize it claims. Shattered and broken, tossed aside, Flat lined soul, dead to the world, no one inside. Drink to the piper and hear him play, A life he has taken, led astray. Withered the heart, poisoned mind, Intoxication; a mistress cruel and unkind. © 2014 Mohammed Mansoor Al-Raisi |
