The Gifted OneA Poem by Danny Mahlon Underwood
THE GIFTED ONE
I HAVE A CERTAIN VISION; THAT NO ONE ELSE CAN SEE. THERE ARE EVENTS OF THE FUTURE; STUCK INSIDE OF ME.
I DON’T CLAIM TO BE A PROPHET; A SOOTHSAYER I AM NOT. BUT, THERE IS NO DENYING; THE SPECIAL GIFT I’VE GOT.
I’M SOMETIMES CONSIDERED EERIE; LAUGHED AT AND CALLEDWEIRD. BECAUSE I LISTEN TO VOICES; VOICES YOU CAN’T HEAR.
THEY GUIDE ME THROUGH THE DAY; THEY GUIDE ME THROUGH THE NIGHT. I SOAR THROUGH THE AIR IN MY MIND; NEVER ON A SOLO FLIGHT.
BUT, SOMETIMES I FEEL ALONE; MY HEART FILLS WITH SORROW. THEN THE VOICES TELL ME; IT WILL BE A GOOD DAY TOMORROW.
SO MY HEART NOW FILLS WITH JOY; TOMORROW SHALL SHINE THE SUN. “HOW DO I KNOW?” YOU ASK; FOR I AM THE GIFTED ONE.
