Scars Upon My Heart

Scars Upon My Heart

A Poem by Turtle
"

Is there anything as undoing as friendships and found family.

"

Imprints made by searing hot iron

Pressing deep upon the wounds of my battle-scarred heart

An otters spotting, a sprinkling of drawings

Gifts and cards sent, a scar is formed.

A friendly hug, joyous and playful

Quick first meeting, a scar is formed.

Lonely seasons paddling thundering waves

Passionate work and endless nights, a scar is formed.

Tall towering warmth, an empathetic soul

Still unreadable mythic, a scar is formed.

Glib tongue lithe body, lounging lazy like Sunday sloths

A trenched lesson, a scar is formed.

Meaningless discussions, Mary Jane et al.,

Breakups and flare ups, a scar is formed.

Pillar of strength stretched out like mats

A scar is formed.

I yearned for safety within the barricades of childhood,

Though none given safely but the walls healed with flesh

I yearn for pain pressed fresh against these caverns

Imperfections of my battle-scarred heart.
