A screaming pain was calling

A screaming pain was calling

A Poem by Maggie Mak

On a Sunday morning time,

It was chilly and windy.

Putting on sport shoes and

getting ready run outside,

When I walked pass sister room,

a screaming pain was calling “HELP!”

And I know, it was about the time,

but I didn't expect it to happen so sudden.

I opened door, grabbed her bag and hailed a cab.

To the hospital, where close to our apartment.

All along,

she was crying painfully in a cab.

I asked a driver drive faster.

Amniotic fluid ran down fast in few lines on sister legs.

I asked her calm down a bit first.

Counting on the number

1,          2,                3,             breathe,             in

3,          2,                1,             breathe,            out

and again

1,          2,                3,              breathe,              in

3,          2,                1,              breathe ,            out.

I could hear the air

running in and out of her nose.

Colorless liquid passed through her skin.

I used my Tempo to wipe off her sweaty face.

Her face turned to a bit pale.

The driver said we arrived.

Later ,

we were in hospital.

Alone in the waiting room, I called my family.

And I released finally.
