TAKEN

TAKEN

A Poem by Magnolia
"

'unrequited'

"

Stifled by restraints
of morality
Yet needing to lose them
totally

Nursed secretly,
and cursed frequently
are words of love,
fighting to be free

Locked away
deep inside
is a longing
Prolonging
the agony

I have to purge
this urge
To litter these pages
with a rhyme that rages

Listen to the sages
who over the ages
have lectured me

For You are taken
and I am forsaken

You take no heed
and so I bleed

Words of love lie dormant
in a body of torment
I have to re-wind
Empty my mind
But where will I find,
peace ?

Can anything be worse
than unrequited verse ?
