Car RideA Chapter by InsanityWriterShe gazed out the window... Eyes brimming with tears...She sat there, her eyes growing redder and wetter, with her hands clenched on her lap, and her pink painted fingernails digging into her palms. She stared out the window, and from her seat in the silence of the car, she could feel his anger radiating from where he sat in front of her. She watched as green trees, blue skies, and road flew by at 70 miles per hour. A car passed theirs and she looked curiously into it... A sad, odd, longing tugged at her heart. She saw within it the family on their phones. She looked up and reached for the air vent and turned it away from her, it was too cold. It was too quiet... Then she sat back and closed her eyes and sighed. Her mother had been accurate... “A girl in despair...” Yes, she had been all too accurate... The girl now had nothing, and emptiness filled her very existence. She blinked back tears once again and rested her face in her hands. She’d been so happy just this morning, and then her world collapsed. Her father was taking them to the butterfly zoo and she’d been so excited... But then her heart and happiness had soon after crumbled... She tugged on her butterfly earrings and turned away, towards the window again... The memory of what had happened played afresh once more in her mind, and her eyes were filled anew with stinging tears. That morning, the nine year old girl had dropped and broken her iPad. © 2013 InsanityWriterAuthor's Note
