MariaA Chapter by InsanityWriter12:31She popped a peppermint in her mouth and glanced at her watch nervously, both old habits of hers. But there was something... Unusual, to say the least, about it.
The peppermint candy had orange, white and blue stripes, and the watch was broken. One would wonder why she wore it, it’s hands were stuck, reading a perpetual time of 12:31. She had kept telling herself to get a new one, but, she couldn’t bring herself to do it... She’d had it for so long, and it’d only stopped working two weeks ago.
She then looked up at the clocktower which bonged at the half hour. Twelve thirty. She saw her approaching.
A woman her age, only a few months younger, 23. She had gently falling dark brown curls, her bangs pinned to the side by a single, glittering hair pin. A pale green colored shirt with long flowing sleeves hung perfectly on her frame, along with light blue jeans; both of which accented all the right curves of her body, and hid all the wrong ones. Just the sight of the approaching woman made the other cringe slightly internally. She hadn’t seen the other in a while, and over their telephone calls there had been something strange about how she had been speaking, starting a couple weeks ago. The very air of her approaching self was odd. Something almost... Sinister lingered in her very aura and breath.
“Maria!” She said, forcing a smile.
Maria looked into her eyes and smiled back, a genuine smile on her part. Only... There was something... Weird about Maria’s smile.
“Hello. Haven’t seen you in a while.” And with that, Maria opened her arms and enveloped the girl who stood before her in her arms. Two scents met, the slight smell of peppermint, and the soft smell of Maria’s perfume, a gentle, lingering floral fragrance she could not exactly place.
“I missed you, but now it’s ‘bye-bye.’” The hissing whisper in her ear flowed so naturally from the other’s lips.
A knife slipped out of Maria’s right sleeve and found itself being rammed into the hugged girl’s back. She hadn’t realized what was going on. The pain just didn’t register. She didn’t notice she was even dead until she was right outside it’s doors.
“Maria.” Her dying breath barely breathed.
The clock tower’s long hand clicked softly and moved over.
