The TreeA Poem by InsanityWriterI grew, I grew tall, and now I shall fall.
What have I seen? What have I done? Nothing great, but watch the setting sun whose light lit my leaves on fire in Autumn when burning desire brought young lovers to lie beneath me to kiss in sweetness or simply breathe.
The old would come before their dying day, they watched the sky and then walked away.
Children came, Children played, Beneath me they sang or sat in my shade.
I have seen a fox hunt I have seen birds fly I have seen new life I have seen it all die.
That valley that used to reside below It is now gone a community grows.
I have stood here now for one hundred years I've been watered in rain I've been watered in tears.
I have heard screams and cries I have heard laughter live and die.
This earth I have found is a beautiful place I pray for this world to see dawn's renewed face for I cannot, I will not no more I have heard my last bells chime. I have stood here for a century and now it is my time. © 2012 InsanityWriterAuthor's Note
