Jellybeans of color, scattered all around..

Jellybeans of color, scattered all around..

A Poem by Magdelena
"

For my girls

"
Jellybeans of color, scattered all around
I watch as you pop one in your mouth
Your laughter sounding out as your eyes
Widen with glee. You clap you small hands
And dance around and around in circles.

I laugh with you. My child, my sweet love
Daughter of my heart, I feel it bursting
From all the feelings held deep within
My gift, I call you, for that is such truth
Nothing on God's green earth could be finer.

I say in prayer each and every night
As I watch you lay sleeping soundly
In your small bed, tucked so tight
From all that can harm, the boogieman
You call out in the darkness, your cries.

Bringing me close to your small form
Holding tight till you are once again
Safe, warm, snuggled deeply in my arms
And I stare in wonder at your tiny face
Your cupid bow of lips so pink, hair of silk.

And I close my eyes in thankful prayer
To all above. For this gift of everlasting
Love so true. My daughter of light, bright
And fare, skin of softness, Blondie is your
Hair, of ringlets and bows, brushed lovingly.

Each day of wake. Pretty dresses of silk
Bundles of memories, all gathered in wake
Of dreams and years, now sped way to fast
From toddler to teenager, dresses of lace to
Now new times of fashion that became fad,

Then suddenly it stops
The gaiety and laughter
The phone calls through the night
The boyfriends that scattered.

Then love one day came a knocking.
And Suddenly what we once knew was gone
For no longer Mommy's little girl
For you were now big and grown.

And now I watch as you walk down
Our staircase dressed in white
Long flowing dress, oh Lord what a sight!

Your trail flowing softly behind
In lace and glittered dust
As you smile down towards me
Your face now so grown up.

Then suddenly the memories
Come flashing by quick
Like a movie wheel, I watch
But then just as suddenly;
They quit.

For now you stand before me
Your smile for me alone
Your eyes shining brightly
And it was then I was shown.

In silent wonder, I come to realize..

My little girl.. Was now grown.

Beautiful. A tribute to a mothers love and the day of awakening when we must release the child and embrace the wonderful adult they have become. Bravo!

This reminds me of when I was in middle school and I spent $21 on jelly bellies. I know that's crazy, but when I went ti pour them too much came out. I had about two pounds. That was a lot to pay. Haha.
Very sweet and lovely poem.

I know it goes so fast doesn't it...I love the title...it give such a wonderful image...those precious memories forever held within as they grown into their own and with a blink of an eye, there they are all grown...love that line...'in silent wonder, I come to realize...my little girl...was now grown' that is exactly how it is! A great piece
