For distant as their name..

For distant as their name..

A Poem by Magdelena
"

For the true Americans of our land. May they always soar!

"

NATIVE AMERICAN

The moon, so large and bright,
guides me as I wander upon this foreign land.
My form..
A shell for all to see..
My apathy...

For deep within is my true self..
For all mankind..
Eyes to look upon when tired of all others around.

Silently my feet move..
I look down at the clay beneath..
Stained a dark rusted hue..
Yet I forge ahead..

Towards the inner light from a place distant, yet far.
My homeland of many moons;
of times when my people roamed this land..
Their calls sounding out through the darkness of velvet..

Surreal those days..
Nights made of heaven;
looking down, her smile so bright..
Where warriors grassed the trees so tall;
ran within the wind so proud..

Yet fell without a sound of whimper.
For none would they allow..

I close my eyes and see them...
Their darkened skin gleaming in the moons heavenly glow.
Arms spread like an eagle's wings..

They worship the stars, moon, all above..
With love and understanding..
Moments of pure peace they feel;
one with the earth..
The soil beneath their very feet..

Proud...Forever in my mind...
My heart...

Visions I shall carry on;
for my children..
Theirs to do the same...

My people, I whisper...

Then... Softly weep..

For long gone..
Never to be the same...

For nevermore...

For distant as their name...

Your thoughts are enveloped forever within the names of those who have long been carried to the Heavens .... of a people who lived with a pride knowing they will be etched within the very Soul of this Earth...an enjoyable view...an enjoyable read...and enjoyable acceptance of things are how they should be...nice work Mag...

This was incredibly sad yet proud like the people it is about.

Sorry Mags for Peony comment about me on your poem. I sent it to her
because I thought she would like it. She thought it was my writing because of it.
But hey I have made that mistake more than once myself.

This piece has serious depth to it! It shines a light on life as much as it does death, and highlights everything in between. Nicely wirtten, Kelley. I loved it!

This was a great poem and the music was perfect with it.
Made you feel like you were there listening to this being
read right out loud.

It has been a while since I've seen an American Indian poem by you a good long while. This one touches the heart. I can picture the scence created as if I were there among your ancestors---- Who knows perhaps we were there together as in our story "Sunseeahray" There was a Time Magdelena yes there was a time----
Once again your magic pen has brought to life a time of long ago a time which we look upon as a golden time A diffirent time. A time when we were together and young--- OH Maggie bring back that time of magic once more!

Truly inspirational...
The real indigenous people who had respect
for nature and in my opinion had it right.
