Learning to Fly

Learning to Fly

A Poem by Magda E Fahren

Among so many weird things grow these wonderful wings
Deepest in the greatest treasures lie these magnificent feathers
I've seen so many leave the mud, use their wings to escape the flood
And fly through the rain unlike a dove, only to drown from above
I see trees growing shorter in this rising water
Not quite content perched on a fence, in my defence
It was too unstable to strive to be able
To use these wings to soar, explore the world that I adore
I've spent so long as a fuzzy chick, gazing to the sky
Now that I have my wings, who will teach me how to fly?
