A Flickering Light

A Flickering Light

A Poem by Maeve Autumn Wiggins
"

Imperfection makes you perfect...

"

Speeding through the dark of night,

Just me, the stars, and the endless city.

I felt so free, so pure, and absolutely indestructible.

A row of lights comes flashing by,

Each one blazes a fake bright white.

Except for one, a single beautiful iridescent light.

That single light shone so true,

Flickering off then back on again.

A never ending steady beat.

Speeding through the dark of night,

I sat to watch the imperfection of the light.

The slightest blemish that made it perfect.
