Twelve Years

Twelve Years

A Poem by Madilyn
"

What happens twelve years after a loved one passes?

"
Pale face, frozen lips, closed eyes,

no breath.

Tears shed, grave dug, prayers said,

goodbye.

One year, grief hits, sad smiles,

blank stares.

Five years, quick thought, tear falls,

move on.

Twelve years, busy, things planned,

no thought.

Author's Note

Madilyn
Just a note, I wrote this the beginning of December but didn't finish it until around Christmas. Then on the 5th of this month, we came upon the one year anniversary of my grandpas' death. It really hit me hard, mostly because he died in my room that I still sleep in. The thing is, he passed at 11:11 and it was really hard cause it was the start of lunch. My friend looked at her phone right as it changed and I just started bawling. So I'm really hoping that after 5, and twelve years, I won't bawl, but I will remember him and keep him in my thoughts.

I enjoyed the poem. My grandfather died over twenty years ago and I still get emotional when I speak about him. My grandmother (the one I was close with) died 10 years ago on my daughters birthday she died at 3:10 am and my daughter was born at 9:37 pm. I like to think that she wanted to meet my daughter but wasn't strong enough so that is why it happened that way so she got you few hours with my daughter been we did. Sorry to hear about your grandpa I would like to say it gets easier but it just seems too hurt less with each thought and the tears turn to reason's you were so blessed to have that person in your life.

i`m sure he is and they are probably looking down on you
When they say time heals all wounds that means after a certain amount of time you accept that life moves on. Time passes on but love remains and stays in your heart. Your grandpa is in your heart always
