The Fight Within

It is hard to deal with two sides of you that contradict each other.

I am lost, scared, afraid.

My mind is fighting against itself, two voices arguing, debating

One voice is sweet and reassuring while the other is evil and destructive

There’s never silence, not at school, home, when I sleep

They say things like

“You’re stupid, why do you even try”

“Don’t say that she’s smart and can do anything she wants”

“You will get nowhere in life”

“No, she will, she will go anywhere she desires”

“You are weak and worthless this is why no one loves you”

“She is not! She’s strong and not worthless and she’s-”

Stop arguing I can’t handle this, all this yelling I’m slowly losing it

I am done listening to you.

I am done thinking the things you say are true.

These thoughts are mine, they must be balanced

Not overpowering the other

I am taking control now

I think that each of us has witnessed this fight going on inside at least one time. But you cane with a whole different approach, you choose to take control in order to balance your thoughts. It's a very wise decision. Nice writing!!!!! 😀

What I wanted it to show is the battle with depression and anxiety. The "voices" are from me trying to stay positive but the negative thoughts try and overpower the positive.
