Shifted Reality

Shifted Reality

A Poem by MadisonJR
"

This poem was meant to show people how PTSD feels like. I know this from an experience and it is very hard to go through but, not impossible!

"
The sun is glistening against my face
All I see around me is the beauty in life
Its a peaceful and calm surrounding
There is a light blue river flowing behind me
Im slowly walking through the grass
Picking the vibrant yellow dandelions
The wind blows my hair back as I stand there
I begin to skip towards the river
I place my hand in the water
Feeling it slip through my fingers
But then I see something
It reminds me of that awful time
Something grabs my wrist aggressively
I pulled away and ran as far as I could
The sky darkened and thunder rumbled
A strike of lightning hit the big pine tree beside me
I still felt the hand against my wrist in a tight grip
I ran and hid under the apple tree to my left
I watched out as the sky looked black
My heart was racing so hard
My vision became unclear
I am now back
At the foot of the river with my hand in the warm water
The sun is still glistening against my face
I looked around anxiously
I am finally back to reality

this is a calming piece. I really like the last line, it is a sense of being back out of thoughts and being back into reality and what is actually happening
