who am i

A Story by Madhusudha
"

abt who is she..or who am i

"
Life opened in mystique and wonder
Enveloped in arms so loving and tender
I look up at my safe keeper
I am forever her daughter
There he comes to claim
His stake, softly whispers my name
His thick calloused finger
Held firm in my fist, my father
Days spent in fun, in mad abandon
Heedless of shoulds, musts,do's don'ts
Until, to learn at another's feet
Time come, to be a student
Years roll by, my head's filled
With all it can hold, then some more
I am braced to enter the door
To become a bride, to another
The role of the new wife
Immense happiness, Big responsibilities
New bonds, To be again
In law -  a sister, daughter, a mother
Life comes from life
And brings to my hands one, and another
The joys that the new role hands
To my welcoming arms, I'm a mother
In all these that I am
In all that I be
Would someone look at me and think
Now, Who could 'she' be?
Stranger, isn't  it stranger
To know, I do too
As I in all this journey through
Ask my reflection, Who be you?
As I go through life's stages
And varied roles
Playing One and then donning another
I pause often times and I too Wonder
Daughter to One
A mother to another
Sister to some
A sister in law become
Friend to Friend
A wife, and a home maker
All these things make me think
Who am I, beyond all this, within?

I used to write when I was much younger but lost touch with it. Now I have resumed writing and more than anything I feel more alive than I have been in all these years... more..
