Homecoming

Homecoming

A Poem by The_Idle_Fancy
"

Short description of the arrival of the lost lover

"
"Hey look at the sky today!"
You smiled, looked away
My eyes twitch and I begin to fray
'Surely he isn't aware of the day.'
I recall
"You know, I am a sucker at remembering
names, dates directions,..."
"And people?...", I said to tease
He beamed, eyes shining bright with ease
And this rapport enough to please
Along with his hand on mine,
And the gust of breeze.
I realize something about the memory lane
Although accessible
And with old, known terrain
The harbinger of the past, moulding  the future
Causing the disdain,
But mainly the emotional drain ...
'Aye aye, no time to think of all that'
For I have received him out of the void
When there was'nt a longing, or any urge for a bond
You whilst every barrier, made my life floyd.
I feel your hands on mind
Warm and enough to hold for a lifetime,
Oh did I just exaggerate?
And now my cheeks feel this strange incarnadine.
Maybe it is too childish
To say,"We met today, silly!"
Or would it be too inappropriate
And only then, out of nowhere I see the lily.
Gazing at the bright white,
Reminded me of the day I cried
When you said maybe our love died
I remember how long you sighed
About how no longer we thought we tried
Or that nothing seemed right,
Between us, and all I could see was the lily beside
"It symbolises the pride,
That I have, for myself, for I found you right",
You stated when we walked that night,
When we were so in love that could not lose a sight.
I was abashed but could not help the fright
That you could leave again, any night
And then you tugged the flower in my hand
And all seems quite.
"All that made me leave for a bit,
Are the reasons why I want you more
That excessive ramble, the eves of silence,
That shying away or the glaces galore.
I hate to feel anything but my hands on yours
So each time let lillies secure,
That I would love you, more and more
And help you adore,
About what I am so very sure."
