Away into the night

Away into the night

A Poem by Maddi

In the dead of night,

When the bull-frogs croak,

The owls hoot gently,

And the cats miaow.

The wind whispers among autumn leaves,

The moon shines, cold, unlovingly.

A frosty breath over the tumbling downs,

Away they run, making no sound.

Life for them is dangerous here,

Everyday they quake in fear.

To be sent away, back to their dangerous homes,

So instead they run, and they are gone.

With a whisper of the skies,

The morning sun is up.

To shine on iridescent drops.

And with that, life is back to normal,

Esacped in the night, and no one knew.

No one but the wind, and the moon and the cold, cold stars.

Will ever know of that family's past.
