The Oncoming SilenceA Poem by Maddi
Right now:
Birds flutter in the trees. Wind bursts in gauzy gusts, To tumble leaves, In the gentle breeze Children are playing in a park. Water from fountains splash about, A gentle song sings To praise the arrival of the icecream King.
In this moment everything is full of life. But then... Everything stops. And everything is S I L E N T Not even the wind dares sigh. For they know, A bloodshed is happening.
They remember those who fell, Those who will fall, Those who are falling right now. Journeying to the silent land, Where everything is blank.
A raindrop breaks the moment. Loud and defining... But life does not continue normally, For they know more silence is coming.
