I WishA Poem by MaddiThis poem is an ode to my mother's friend, who I never have met, and never will. He committed suicide shortly after realizing his medication for schizophrenia was not going stop a psychotic episode.Rain drips slowly, Smudging across inky black clouds. In the rain, leaves shine like stars in the sky, And with a sigh, She knows he's up there too. The rain smears dirt and grass together. Bright and dull parts united; One half of the whole. The tree supports her and she wishes, She could've healed him with love. Rain trickles down her face, Coppery hair shimmering. He is gone now, She wished she could've been there, To keep him safe, But she wasn't, Was this really meant to be? The rain fades away like autumn mist, And sun streaks through the gloomy sky. A sparrow bursts from the hedgerow, Fluttering, and twittering with life. She leans her head back and closes her eyes. In the chaos of the garden, A bird begins to sing. And she knows, if she listens close, She can still hear his lively voice, catching on the wind. © 2016 MaddiReviews

All literature is accepted by me! I'm also a cynical, sarcastic and rude person, but those who get to know me, love me for it. .. more..Writing
