Pebbles

Pebbles

A Poem by Maddi

Pebbles like round eggs,
Glint like seal's fur,
On the river bed.
Trout squirm among seaweed,
The pebbles are anchors.
A life line of the Yare.
The current turns the pebbles over,
Makes them flow over rocky crags;
Round meanders they tumble.
They tumble and turn over and over;
Till they're nothing more than grains of sand,
But they've made it-
To the sea.
And she greets them,
Conscientiously.

It's always good to put people in their place by using pebbles as a metaphor for life. I like to think that when we die, we just return to the universe, so I really agree with the theme here. It's also a very relaxing way to face life's problems; by imagining we're all just floating down the river of life. You did a great job of making it relaxing. Truly beautiful.
