Red ink, Blue ink, Green Ink, Black ink

Red ink, Blue ink, Green Ink, Black ink

A Poem by Maddi

I followed you into every battle.

You said I was your beautiful muse,

Your inspirational, flaming phoenix.

But true strength failed you.

You took your fountain pen.

And you wrote over the real me.

With your red ink and your blue ink and your black ink,

Your calligraphy swept over my mind.

You left your purple ink in circles,

Over my face, my neck, my arms and legs.

With Red you rewrote my present.

With Blue you rewrote my past.

With black you wrote my future;

Bleak, dark, dead.

Is this what you wanted?

A different me?

How can you solve a puzzle,

If you keep changing the shape of the pieces.

But you were wrong.

Your Times New Roman smudged,

botched.

You forgot your blotting paper.

Now the ink has washed away.

Black ink, Red ink, Blue ink.

And I can write for me,

In green.
