Chess Cat

Chess Cat

A Poem by Maddi
"

An ode to my best friend, whose cat has to have surgery to remove his eye, to cheer her up.

"
Chess Cat

The ginger ninja,

Slinking through shadows,

Dissipating through darkness.

Streetlamps cut through the grey,

the bleak disappearing with dawn.

Her silent soldier,

So easily bribed with fish and

D-R-E-A-M-I-E-S.

Saunters through an alleyway of

Trees, shrubs shadowing him.

With stealth,

He slinks looking

at a Wren.

The Wren knows this felinity,

With generosity

He leaves her on her branch with her babies.

Returns to base where.

A warm b e d

awaits

And warm love too.

His mistress knocks over her piece,

The knight, the bishop, rook

Her famous pirate eyed

twinkled toed

Kitty Cat.

Sits on the chess board
