The thing that can't be found

The thing that can't be found

A Poem by Madeira
"

A journey

"

I blew on the clock of a dandelion,

Time dispersed through fields of gold.

Moving the sky to one side, I reached out,

Onto wings of eternity I caught hold.

I emerge flying through a pinprick of light

Why am I here, on this floating cloud,

Torch in hand I search for my home,

The darkness shouts my name out loud.

In the deep midnight hum of the universe,

The world of phantoms continues to beat,

Minds in the window-glass echo and reflect,

As I chase the wind through empty streets.

I see ice smothering roses and violets,

Old fruit trees in an abandoned meadow,

Cobwebs and whispers are overgrown

In this place I see my metaphor flow.

I set myself down by the place I call home

I am not sure how I got here or why,

I had searched for the thing that cannot be found,

Yet inside myself I hear it’s cry.

A warm, effulgent welcome, Madeira,
What an enthralling poem to introduce yourself with.
A journey, indeed, and such a deeply spiritual, metaphorically expressive sojourn it is.
Your poetical voice in this piece sings a soft, tender, darkly mysterious, emotional, almost ethereal song … it's a passionately hopeful chorus from heart, mind, and soul, shared most beautifully and openly with those of your readers'.
One is left with the mystery of what "the thing" is "that cannot be found"; is it peace of mind, love, the comfort of loneliness, or something even deeper and more intense? Whatever it may be, I think most of us has searched, or are still searching, for that illusive missing piece that will make us whole.
I've only three wee suggestions in critique to offer, Dear Madeira: For ease of reading and appeal to the mind's-eye, separate your Quatrains and select a more gentle font in italics to soften and befit the mood and moment (Times, for instance) one size larger. Find a way to make "beat" and "streets" a perfect rhyme, to harmonize with the rest.
I hope you will enjoy it here, Madeira, and make the Café your new home. With your creative, outstanding caliber of poetry and a generous sharing with others, you'll soon gather many grateful followers to share with and teach your unique style, learning much from us all in exchange.

Smiles and grateful hugs of sincere thanks to you for sharing, and again, a warm welcome! ⁓ Richard : )

This is one of the best poems I’ve read all week! Thank you for reviewing me, so I could find you & check out your poetry. This is amazing writing, but even more than that, it’s amazing THINKING. To conceive of this message is pure imagination, perfectly whimsical, but also with an ephemeral storyline that can be followed thru-out. I love the way this is a blend of beautiful flowing ideas with a balance of darker threatening moments, but not harsh. It conveys the true-to-life sensations of how life can batter us about, here & there, up & down, as we try to find our path. This is compelling & organic writing! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
