I'm sorry, Mom

I'm sorry, Mom

A Poem by AmeliaGerhardt

When she told me
I could become
anything I wanted,

her mind danced around
degrees and figures.

She was not picturing
her little girl
curled on the floor

hoping

praying

needing

to be yours..
