Throw away the key

Throw away the key

A Poem by AmeliaGerhardt

A million and one thoughts
run through my mind
itching to be exposed
But as my pen kisses each sheet of paper,
I find myself at a loss.

Not really a loss for words, but
more of a loss for
emotion.
And depth.

You see, you stole the one feeling
that I used to thrive off of.
Love.

As for depth?
Well, there's only one explanation for that
If I dug deep- really dug deep-
It would be as though Pandora's box
was once again opened
Exposing the evils of the world and keeping
hope trapped within

Except the evils are my own.
they're my own memories.
Of you.

And the last thing I need
is to let those out
And trap hope within.
