Her

Her

A Poem by AmeliaGerhardt

I've always heard authors
describing eyes as a galaxy
with billions of dazzling stars
But as I sat across from her
and our gazes crossed,
my mind took me elsewhere
I found myself sitting in the
living room, next to a fire,
cuddling her as the faint sound
of classical music filled the air
You see, her eyes didn't remind
me of space, which is so far
out of reach.
Her eyes reminded me of home
And the home we would
one day build together
