Blurry Eyes

Blurry Eyes

A Poem by BreakingWithTradition

What can inner peace be worth,
No one can know.
'Everything' ... We say
No truer word spoke.

You could take me away
From my culture
My tradition born,
And make me what you are.

Standing tall,
Free and happy
In love, at peace.
Able to create,
The path of your life.
Able to choose
The ground upon which you tread.

If I am so courageous
To change the future
Will then the path, of my destiny
Begin to fade.
Would new roads emerge
For me to take.

The moment is close.

Watch me shed my skin
And begin anew,
A life destined from the very start
Yet postponed by troubles,
I was going through.

My clock is turned back to twelve.
Today is day zero.

Watch happiness unfold,
And new joyous troubles be told,
But pleased, knowing no iron shackles clad
Upon your being, no longer are we defined
By our feeling empty and sad.

Embrace your life,
With love long due.
Smile with every breath you take,
Gaze upon the world
With fresh eyes, every day
Knowing you are now at liberty
To see it, clearly.
No more
Blurry eyes.

Author's Note

BreakingWithTradition
A while ago, I was going through a really tough time. This is what I wrote to help myself through it and to remind myself that there's always a way you can change your destiny.
