Prologue

I was about eight years old when I found out about vampire's existence. I was living with my dad in San Francisco and he needed to go out on a business trip with a friend, and said friend's daughter Flora was looking for some babysitting work, and so she babysat me. 

The first night was when I found out, because, well... she sort of drank my cat, per se. 

And so for the rest of the week, she told me about how she was a vampire, and so was her twin Mason and her son Andrew. Mason and Flora were both roughly 202 years old, and for every 12 years that pass, they physically age one year- except for her Andrew, because since he is half human, he ages normally. She explained that they are basically just like everyone else, just the fact that they have to hunt every few weeks or so to stay alive. 

So I grew up in a pretty unorthodox group of friends- vampires that practically don't age. 

Flora warned me that spending too much time with vampires can turn you into one, and so I guess that's what happening. 

My name is Grace Roman. 

And yeah- I'm screwed.
