Smile At Me

Smile At Me

A Poem by Caution In Flames
"

Word vomit :/

"
You won't get out of my head
so until then
if we meet in another time
will you still remember this life?

or will I just be another pair of eyes
an ordinary face in disguise
will you be able to pick me out in a crowd
as hidden memories cascade all around

will you be able to spot my smile
I know, I know, it'll take awhile
will my laugh ring a bell to you?
or will I be forgotten through and through?

Maybe I'm not sufficiently perfect
maybe I'm not significantly worth it
but I will remember you.
I know I'll remember you.

So someday if we pass on the street
you'll know who I am, because my knees will go weak
as all the words come fading back to me
the moment I recognize that it's you I see.

So smile at a stranger for me
because you'll never know if it'll be me
if I smile back to you
then you know what you should do?

Come crush your lips back against mine
bring back the sacredness of old times
then I give you permission to walk away
just, please, for me, don't forget that day.

You won't get out of my head
so until then
if we meet in another time
will you still remember this life?

No, this isn't about an exboyfriend. It's about a guy I really, really like.
