Nighttime Conversations

A Story by Lady General
"

A little piece I did for my friend a while back.

Leo paced about his room quietly, waiting, hoping, every part of him was near praying his brother would get online. Corn and Leo were spending the weekend house sitting for Dino while he gets ready to come back for a while, but everything his older brother was doing was only making the German worry even more. Dino was starting to become reclusive again, breaking off ties to people and speaking less and less to his own brother. It was starting to leave a heavy knot in his younger brother’s stomach. The boy kept biting his lip as he fiddled with his Magneto pajamas. So preoccupied with worrying over Dino, when he heard the whimper from his bed he nearly jumped out of his skin, but he quickly regained himself and walked silently over to the bed. Corn was deep in sleep, but he was thrashing and whimpering in fear. All worry for his brother was quickly overcome by the worry now placed over his liebe. Sliding into bed, he did his best to pull the taller boy into his lap and arms. Rubbing his lover’s arms he kissed the top of his forehead and whispered soothing words in German before becoming quiet. Then he started to sing softly, his accent giving the song a huskier tone, “Nothing’s gonna harm you, not while I’m around. Nothing’s gonna harm you, no sir, not while I’m around. Demons are prowling everywhere, nowadays. I’ll send ‘em howling, I don’t care, I got ways.” Feeling Corn relax a little, Leo smiled, his head resting lightly in the Greek’s hair. Humming a little, he finished the verse, “No one’s gonna hurt you, no one’s gonna dare. Others can desert you, not to worry whistle, I’ll be there. Ich liebe dich Corn, don’t you worry, I’m may not be the strongest, but I can be scary too, when I want to. I’ll keep the demons away.”

“Leo, you’re about as scary as a hyperactive puppy.” Corn looked up at his boyfriend you pouted in response, then planted a quick kiss on his lips. Shushing him, Leo mumbled, “I’m German, I can be scary.” Corn laughed and snuggled closer to Leo, “Shh scary German, I’m trying to get some sleep and nightmares aren’t really helping.” Leo wrapped his arms around Corn a little tighter and put buried his face into Corn’s hair again, his voice softer than usual, “Then trust me mein liebe, trust me when I say nothing’s going to hurt where when I’m around. Every time you get scared, just listen closely to my heartbeat, so you know that I’m always here, day or night.” “What if you have to pee? Leo laughed a bit, his chuckled rumbling his chest like Dino’s, “Hush.” He looked back into Corn’s eyes and kissed him again, this time letting his lips linger a moment longer. When he broke the kiss, he kept his lips hovering over Corn’s. “Dino and you are so brothers, you laugh like him.” “I’m the cuter one, and I like whips.” Corn blushed and kissed him quickly before curling up against his chest and closing his eyes, “Oh God, are you like some kind of supernatural being that’s innocent in the day then the dirtier than a Frenchman in night.” His only reply was another chuckle and a sigh as Leo let himself relax and one word, “Maybe.”

They were quiet for a long time, both of them expecting the other to be asleep, but Corn ended up speaking up eventually, voice uneasy, “Are you sure Leo?” Leo hummed a quick, “hm?” in response, his lover clearing up, “The demons, are you sure they won’t get me.” Leo nodded then said blankly, his voice in a rare, normal human tone, “Ja. Know why? I’m a very, very selfish German, and I don’t like sharing my Corn when he’s being so cute and curled up against me like a cat. The demons are just going to have to find another Grecian, because you,” he kissed Corn’s forehead, “Are mine, for as long as you want to be mine.”  Corn replied quietly, “so forever then?” “Of course, you’re the Xavier to my Magneto.” Corn closed his eyes, and for once, he felt completely safe in Leo’s arms, nothing could hurt him as long as the German kept his arms around him.
