I AM NOT A CATERPILLAR

I AM NOT A CATERPILLAR

A Poem by MadalaJose
"

Memoirs of a Butterfly

"

I was flying like all days

Perhaps I was a little careless

Showing off my new wings

To caterpillars, these me-wannabes.

Then…

I run into a whirlwind

Nose-dived into a messy marsh

Got maggots all over my wings

Got my wings glued to the mud

I was stuck...

They started laughing at me

Pointing there mandibles at me

Mocking my efforts to fly again.

All I know is

I am not a caterpillar,

I am butterfly that fell in the mud

Warming up for my next flying lesson.

An interesting use of metaphor here, Madala.

I haven't read the other butterfly poems, but I really enjoyed this! Perhaps we could all learn something for the fragile butterfly? That while it is good to have confidence in ourselves, we should remain humble, lest we fall into the mud!

Really good writing...a great lesson , that no màtter what the world says , no matter how weak we get by their words at the end of the day its just ourself and its only us who matters, not the world...

You have a way of calling it like it is. I like that this butterfly who was once a caterpillar, made a beautiful victory out of an challenge (getting stuck in the mud and being made fun of) yet the butterfly knew that he was a overcomer. Thank you, you inspire me to continue to keep writing about life and situations.

Thank you for the review May
This is really nice! I really like the end and how it basically says (To me anyway), "Even if you're being laughed at, never give up!"

Thank you May B. I appreciate
This is a beautifully expressed piece,I love it;} Love butterflies, they are a symbol of struggles in life and how we can again live through them,if only we believe in ourselves and God's help;]
