The Spiders Web/Social Ties

The Spiders Web/Social Ties

A Poem by The Mad Prophet
"

Through this I compare my life style to a Spider. Social wise anyway.

"

Center Web

Find yourself, then you know yourself

The center web is ever growing

It reaches outward ever far

At a cosmic level

At a social level

Keep the center web pure

The Second Rings

Find your knowing, and know them well

The second web is understanding

Only when you understand can you grow

Know your deities, they will help you

Know your demons, they will hinder you

This is the foundation of wisdom

The Outer Rings

The farther you perceive, the farther your mind travels

The outer ring is perception

And with perception comes responsibility

If you see something before it happens

Apply it into your life

That makes up the outer rings

The Compass Threads

Direction is good, it not hard to get lost

The compass threads direction

This is the bass thread that ties you to this plane

It keeps you wondering

It keeps you seeking

But above all else, it keeps you growing

The Wild Threads

To follow a wild path, one must follow another

The wild threads are off the path

But with a compass, you should find your way back

These threads are the people you know

These threads can help you find a new way

But above all, you need to understand when to cut them

The Under Laying Threads

For every thread you have, you must know when to strengthen them

The under laying threads is your hidden path

But they are your support bonds

And they will keep you strong

This is the way to anchor yourself

But above all, know yourself

And thus the thread balances the center web

Pushing your rings out farther

Excellent analogy, but it is also a cage of the mind. This is often what poetry has over a analogical philosophy... The schematic is cast like a web over consciousness, but only the threads catch prey. A poem can teach more through its confused honesty, than a philosophy can by casting drag lines into space.

Although a bit didactic, your ideas are sound and make for an interesting philosophical analogy. Rhythm wise your choice for the final threads being "Under Laying" doesn't quite mesh with the words you've chosen for the other web layers. I would suggest looking for some other synonyms like "foundation" or "base". It would smooth out the flow of the language.
After a little more proofreading for some verb tense errors, this will make for an excellent piece.
