Chapter FourA Chapter by MadMax760Chapter Four The thought of kidnapping ran though my head. No matter what I did to try to get it out of my head it’s the only think I could think of. I don’t know how this could have happened. I might have been asleep, but how would I not have heard someone take my own sister who was just a matter of feet away from me. The only place I could have though that she would have gone would be home, but I don’t see why she would return there. “Reece!” said a familiar voice. I could hear Madeline’s voice but I couldn’t determine where it was coming from. I looked around franticly; hoping that I would catch at least a glimpse of her. By now people were starting to pile into the park, and my vision was getting cut closer and closer. Soon I felt a tug on my shirt. “Reece! I want you to…” she started to say. “Where the hell have you been Madeline!? You just left there you didn’t wake me up or anything. I was worried sick about you! I thought someone had kidnapped you!” I started screaming at her. I soon realized that people were looking at our direction so I had to cut back. “Now what is do damn important that you had to run off like that?” I said as I glared at her. “Well Reece I want you to meet my new friend Jennifer. She’s a runaway too! She is so cool, and she doesn’t have a home can she stay with us? Please, please, please!” Madeline started giving me the puppy dog eyes. She knew what this did to me, but I had to think this one out. “Give me a few minutes to think about it, ok?” I asked trying to buy time. “Hurry!” she demanded. There were many good things about having Jennifer with us; she would be able to help me watch over Madeline, and it would be nice to have a third person tag along. Yet there are several bad things about having her come with us; we don’t know her so she could try to rob what little we have, and we don’t know how much we can trust her. I decided to take the risk we didn’t have that much to lose. “Ok, she can come.” I replied really not knowing what to say. “Yay!” Madeline said jumping up and down. I looked around to see if I could see Jennifer anywhere around, but I didn’t see any other girl that seemed to be homeless. “Well?” I said to her. “Oh! She went to her hiding out place and had to grab her stuff. She said that she would meet us up tonight, and you and her can talk all you want. I’m just glad that I finally have someone that I can talk to, and who knows what it’s like!” she said. I could see the excitement growing in her eyes. “Well excuse me, but I’m pretty sure I know how it feels to grow up like you did. Thank you very much.” I said with as much sarcastic tone that I could. “Reece, you don’t count! You were there in the house most of the time, but now I can tell someone who knows what it’s like, and will believe us. No more of the, ‘You kids need to stop lying,’ anymore. She knows how it is!” She told me. I could see by now that her eyes were starting to fill with tears, but it was hard to keep a straight face with her poor imitation of the cops. I just walked up to her, and gave her a hug. “I love you Madeline, and we’re going to do this.” I tried to comfort her. “I hope so.” She replied. I have to admit that I was quite excited about finally having someone else to talk to, and maybe this would give me the opportunity to finally get some rest at night. I didn’t know anything about this Jennifer girl, and I was hoping that it would come out for the best. Maybe my prayer for Madeline to be watched over had come true, and then again maybe it hadn’t. “I have an idea!” I shouted. I could tell that I had startled her with my quick actions. “And what would that be Boo Boo Bear?” she said back to me giggling. Just the sound of Boo Boo Bear made me laugh. It was an old joke that I had told her to get her to calm down. It was on the night that my dad came home, and I decided to go to her room instead of mine. She was crying profusely, and I handed her the bear and said, ‘Awe tell Mr. Boo Boo Bear your problems.’ Ever since then she hasn’t let that bear away from her side. “Why don’t we go get some ice cream? You look like you could need some, and I know I wouldn’t mind a little scoop of it to.” I told her with a smile on my face. “Can I get the double chocolate scoop, with the strawberries, and pink sprinkles with a little bit of chocolate syrup on top?! That way it could be nice and yummy!” By now her voice had started to get high pitched with the lack of air in her lungs, and she had that little school girl look on her face. “Well yes ma’am you may!” I said back to her. I knew that by doing this that I wouldn’t be able to get my own ice cream because I had to watch the money as much as I could. I grabbed her hand, and we started walking towards the ice cream parlor. “So how is she going to know where to meet us at?” I asked her out of curiosity. “I told her about the big tree, and that we’d be there tonight, and just for her to meet us there. Ah I’m so excited that I finally get to have that girl time that all the girls in the park were talking about.” She said to me. Her eyes were still twinkling with delight. “Well as long as you get your sleep, and she doesn’t steal from us I don’t care if she comes, but if she breaks my rules I will not be afraid to tell her to leave.” I told her in a very serious tone. After that nothing really was said. I was still very tired from not getting much sleep the night before. I paid for the ice cream, and sat down. Hopefully tonight will come out much better than the one before. © 2010 MadMax760Author's Note
