Ignorance Is Bliss

Ignorance Is Bliss

A Poem by TJB

Overhead a bright blue sky
Followed by a tranquil orange sunset
An aura of happiness when surrounded by friends
True contentedness
So why is this the moment I feel dread?
Newfound bubbles of realization interrupt my psyche
Was my contentment just repetition with a colorful bow
Had I been seeing the world through colored lenses when I felt the world was grayscale
Repressed emotions should be dripping from my eyes
Instead of living life was I playing house
Should I remain within this iron maiden
Whose spikes are coated to keep me sedated
Or embrace that which the masses do
Once again I see the sky so blue
Until the sunset once again glows like a forest fire
The path I chose to follow I won't say
Accept it and pretend this never happened
After all
Ignorance is bliss
