Rolling Rock

Rolling Rock

A Poem by Madame

the smell of rolling rock reminds me of my dad
all those fun times we had
after i was grown

and thinking back
deeper
all those not so fun nights
when i was younger
and couldn't be contained

his tolerance we pushed
on his patience we did weigh
day after day after day
and day after day
he would pop off that cap
lean back and watch us play

no wonder he had to have his drink
and despite his intolerance
for all our tedious non-sense
he always wore that smile
with a sparkle in his eye
picked us up as we cry
held us near,
whispering "its ok dear,
put away your tear"

always a wise man
many people would sing him praise
and in his honor
at his wake
their glasses they did raise
they toasted to a joyous life
full of adventure, excitement
and..
the people he would encounter
and how his life and theirs did change

I love the smell of Rolling rock
it reminds me of my dad
the cold winter nights
when he warmed my arms with his rough warm hands
and the summer days we spent
wrapped in long discussions about the land
making drizzle castles in the sand

I am glad to see this ported over as I love the honesty of it, the depth of feeling placed on a smell that can so transport you back to days when all you thought about were the moments spent together with your father. Beautiful and emotional, keep em' coming S.
