To My Heart

To My Heart

A Poem by Michelle
"

Love. <3

"
Behold!--the love foretold by a grieving Poe,
Who lost a lover to envious seraphs.
Yet I have found mine in the realm of reality.
Is it fair? The rest march, sightless;
They hunt for this emotion.
Oh, I beckon your spite!
For love erupts forth from my soul
And purges a ballad sweeter
Than any angel’s “Hallelujah”!
Heaven had breathed the heroics
Of Odysseus into his veins.
A lover held amongst the stars
For a patient, yearning Penelope.
Night laces his hair, wreathing
Waves of Neptune’s arcane domain.
Eyes are a spectrum of captured faeries.
He laughs, and such marvels pirouette in his gaze.
Could I speak of his lips?
Too divine and rousing.
Dionysus’ mirthful cup could not compare.
My name upon it, tremble.
Dare, my own mouth upon them, death!
Blissful death and rebirth!--In his toxic embrace,
All turns into a wonderland.
An eternity of woes for this euphoric end.
To be loved by a god, is a blasphemous tragedy.
He, so warranting of perfection,
Idolizes me instead.
I will be his Eudocia. Our faith shall conquer,
Endeavoring with all I can sacrifice,
Fearing a sentence of exile for my endearment.
Yet, ecstasy thrives. This Eden,
Impregnated with lust and virtue,
Survives. Sinners, hand in hand.
Lovers entangled in a rhapsody
Faceless to Cupid. Eternity,
A word refined into a covenant,
Between two who devoured
A fruit of intoxicating sacrifice.
