Lost ComradesA Poem by MichelleOn lost friendships...
Formido has struck me down
From Hercules’ throne and crown Woven from bravery I designed as genuine. Alas!--It was lent and not mine. I was Achilles, triumphant, passionate. However, an arrow seared my weakness and let The facade shatter. Now, I am Paris, Desperate and unworthy of a stolen bliss. Arise comrades who were worth More to me than the paragons of Earth! Have you fallen away, given up pursuit, Annulled your allegiance for the siren’s flute? Conjuring up Nemesis, your demons faded With my toil. Woe!--you are too jaded To recognize my endeavors. If not blind, You have digressed to a path I cannot find. I beseech thee. My tattered feet journeyed Through Hades’ palace. Plead; He shall permit your return. Yet you Spurned my heart. This is adieu. Caged and abandoned by the guardians I appointed for my love. Betrayed by the hands Of friends. A crucified covenant divided Amongst fools unfit of the blood shed. Arise comrades who were worth More to me than the paragons of Earth! Yet ‘t is too late!--As Nostalgia’s void invades. My era of euphoria, like the pride of Thebes, fades... © 2010 Michelle |
