Chapter (7) THE LION WITH TANGLESOME HAIR

Chapter (7) THE LION WITH TANGLESOME HAIR

A Chapter by MAD ENGLISHMAN

There is a land far away, where baby animals play,

Where the trees and the grass meet the sky.

And the jungle is green, the best green you have seen,

And there is a river that never runs dry.

A young lion lives there, with his tanglesome hair,

It’s all messy with leaves and grass seeds.

There is even a plant, and a poor lonely ant,

All mixed in his hair with some weeds.

"I like my long hair, but it gets everywhere,

It even falls, in my soup when I eat.

Sometimes I wonder you know, if it will just grow,

Until it is down to my feet."

Then out of the trees, came a head and four knees,

Was Clara the friendly Giraffe.

When she saw all the hair with the twigs sticking there,

Clara stopped and started to laugh.

"Goodness me," she cried, “don’t you have any pride,”

"Your hair needs a wash and a cut."

but the lion growled low and said "I'm not going, NO,

I won't go to the hairdressers hut."

“I don’t know what’s wrong, so please come along,”

Clara said. "You’ll see there is nothing to fear."

Lion said "I'm scared you see, that it will hurt me,

And he might even cut off my ear."

Clara gave a wide grin, put her hoof on her chin,

and thought hard how to solve lions plight.

After just a short while, Clara gave a BIG smile

And said "Come with me and we’ll make it alright."

Even though he was scared, Lion knew Clara cared,

And together they set off on their way.

It wasn’t far to the hut, where you have your hair cut,

And they found the hairdresser asleep in some hay,

“This young lion needs a trim,” said Clara with a grin

The Gorilla nodded, said “ Come in my hut.”

But the lion growled low and said "I'm not going, NO,

I don’t want my lovely hair cut."

So they sat in the shade, where decisions are made,

And the hairdresser had an idea.

He would cut the hair of a friend, who lived round the bend.

And lion could see there was nothing to fear.

Soon a cheery Chimp, who walked with a limp

Sat in the hairdressers’ chair.

Lion wanted to see, so he sat by a tree,

As the hairdresser trimmed, the chimps’ hair.

“I can see.” Lion said, “This mess on my head.”

Needs a wash and a comb and a cut.

Then Lion growled low and said “Yes I will go.”

I will go to the hairdressers hut.

When it was done, Lion said “That was fun.”

As he climbed down from the hairdressers’ seat.

His friends all cheered as Lion appeared

With his hair looking fluffy and neat.
